Wellness Recovery Action Plan®
The Wellness Recovery Action Plan® or WRAP® is used worldwide by people who are dealing with many kinds of health and life challenges.
WRAP® was developed in 1997 by the Copeland Center for Wellness and Recovery by Mary Ellen Copeland and her colleagues—all of whom had experienced the mental health system.
This is an eight-week evidence-based recovery program for non-diagnosed individuals in a non-clinical setting. The program is based on known mental health recovery concepts like hope, education, empowerment, self-advocacy, and interpersonal support and connection.
Within a group setting, individuals use Wellness Recovery Action Plan® to explore self-help methods such as peer support, focusing exercises, relaxation, and stress reduction techniques. There are resources too for coping in difficult times and keeping yourself well. While WRAP® does not replace other treatments, it can be used to complement other mental health treatment options.
With WRAP®, you design what you need. You can choose who assists and supports you while developing and using your plan. They can be your family, friends, or care providers.
WRAP® is for people of all ages–whether transition-age youth, adults, or seniors. It’s used in schools, rehabilitation, hospitals, and veterans’ facilities. Ask us about your Wellness Recovery Action Plan® today!
